1.) Approval of Agenda

2.) Approval of Minutes from: September 7, 2007 - Spelling corrections were made.

3.) Announcements

   a.)  Fulltime Faculty Names in Summer Schedules – Paul Williams announced that Fulltime

         Faculty names for the Summer schedules are due December 10, 2007.

   b.) Turn In Travel Request – Paul Williams advised everyone in the meeting to turn in their   

         travel request as soon as possible.   He also mentioned that Math and Science had been

         awarded $19,000 for travel and that $9,000 of that had already been approved.

   c.)  Update Status of Proposed Change of Administrative Rule of Student Travel - Paul

         Williams announced that the administrative rule for student rule Bob Blodgett had drafted    received positive feed back and that with revisions had a good possibility of going forward. 

 4.) Discussion & Action Items:

   a.)  SEM – Ron Johns announced that the Bureau of Economic Geology was giving away a

         scanning electron microscope.  After a brief discussion, it was agreed that we did not need

         the microscope and the matter would be forwarded to the dean. 

   b.)  Do We Want to Add Information on 6 drop rule to Master Syllabus – Paul Williams asked

         everyone in the meeting if the 6 drop rule should be added to the master syllabus.

         After discussions it was decided not to add it to the master syllabus.

   c.)  Discussion of the Evaluation Process – James Friedrichsen and Ron Johns discussed the

         Evaluation Process with everyone at the meeting.  They talked about the differences

         between Portfolios, Faculty Input Forms and Faculty Evaluations.  Everyone was also  

         reminded of the deadlines for those items.  November 2, 2007 being the deadline for

         portfolios, February 1, 2008  for Adjunct Faculty Input Forms, March 3, 2008 for Fulltime

        Faculty Input Forms, Evaluations for Adjunct Faculty sometime in March and Evaluations

        for Fulltime Faculty sometime in April.  Everyone had questions, shared suggestions and

        concerns in reference to the item.

                                    Do we want to buy Mathematica Licenses with the Math Department – It was decided to purchase 6 seats for a year on an exploratory basis. 

                                   

                                    Review Master Syllabi – Tabled

 

                                    AC Circuits on GPII Required Topics List – Tabled

 

                                    Data on Prerequisites and Students Success in Physics – Dr. Cise passed out a handout with data on prerequisites and Students Success in Physics   that show how students succeed in Physics when they have completed their math prerequisites.   

 

                                    Is Math 1324 a Suitable Prerequisite for PHYS 1401 - Tabled
